Permission to Heal
About
If You’ve Spent a Lifetime Blaming Yourself, You’re Not Alone—Society is the Problem, not you!
Have you mastered the art of appearing fine... while silently falling apart inside? What if the version of you they tried to destroy... is exactly who you were meant to become? What if the healing you’ve been waiting for isn’t in time... but in someone else’s story that finally speaks your truth?
Through Melonie’s raw and unfiltered story you will see how to:
- Stop second-guessing yourself: Learn how narcissists condition you to doubt your reality—and how to break free.
- Build unshakable boundaries—even if you’ve spent your whole life letting others decide your worth.
- Find your voice after years of silence, shame, and suppression.
- Get the language to explain your pain—so you no longer feel invisible to others or yourself.
- Stop over-apologizing, over-explaining, and over-functioning for people who never deserved that power.
- Learn how to set limits without guilt—even with the narcissist who raised you.
- Reclaim your right to joy, rest, and wholeness—without needing anyone’s permission.
- Rebuild your inner world after years of being gaslit, minimized, and emotionally manipulated.
- Feel less alone by reading the exact thoughts, fears, and patterns that survivors rarely say out loud.
- Start trusting your instincts again—even if they’ve been buried under years of self-doubt.
You may say that your situation is different-no book could possibly understand my story.
You’re right—your story is different. And that’s exactly why this book doesn’t try to offer one-size-fits-all advice.
Instead, it shares the lived experience of someone who knows what it’s like to grow up feeling invisible, to question their own memories, and to survive by shrinking.
This isn’t about offering neat little solutions. It’s about giving language to the things you’ve never been able to say out loud.
So no, it may not match every detail of your story. But it will make you feel less alone in it. And that, sometimes, is the first breath of healing.
If you want to feel seen, understood, and no longer ashamed of what you’ve endured, then order one today!
Praise for this book
It is something to see when someone takes their own tragedies in life and turns them into ways to empower others going through similar situations.
And in this book, Melonie does just that.
She takes her own horrific story to help expose the wounds that predators leave in a person's psyche and the culture that protects predators instead of their innocent victims.
Melonie exposes the many "faces" of a narcissist, from family to institutions and helps victims, in my opinion, dismantle the lies that keep them silent and suffering.
Instead, by giving a fresh look at forgiveness as a way to help set boundaries and get accountability, not forgetting.
After all, forgiveness is an act for oneself, not the person being forgiven.
Melonie blends her personal story with the tools she's found and developed to help those survivors become "thrivors", reclaiming their personal sense of peace, calm and self-trust.
I especially think it is great that she involves the spiritual component as well, since that is a source of incredible strength.
Definitely a worthwhile read for both "survivors" and for those that help them overcome those demons of their past.
The first half of this book went into details about the authors life and struggles. At first, I wasn't too sure where the book was going but could identify with parts of her life. Then I got to the second half of the book and it started to make sense why so much detail had to be given in the first half. I won't go into too much detail about that because I feel you really need to read it and experience for yourself. The author was very open and honest about her healing journey and different avenues she took to find true healing. I absolutely love that she shares her experiences with us all, giving many of us the freedom and opportunity to explore what can work for our own healing paths. My favorite thing about the book, is that she shy's away from the common ways the medical world deals with healing. Often medications are given and do very little to heal us but to numb us instead. It gives you an insight on what whole body healing can look like with spiritual oneness we so desperately crave as Christians. I highly recommend this book to others who need that extra guidance in there healing journey where other tools have failed. I pray that others seek out their journey and share it with us all. This isn't a journey we should seek alone but with the help of GOD and the brutal truths of others. We need to normalize the process and openly discuss the way these traumas have affected us all. Talk about the things that have been avoided and be okay with expressing that sometimes we just aren't okay. The author has put it all out there so that this dialog can start and that others find the openness to express their pain and struggles with confidence. Only then can we start to seek other unique ways to heal and share what actual works with others. Only monsters live in the dark and once true healing begins can we start exposing the monsters and taking our lives back. Thank you for writing this book and finding the courage to share this with others. Thank you for being so brutally honest about your healing journey so that others can find the healing they need as well. We can only begin to heal when the silence is broken, and we shut down the taboos of being a survivor and show the world who we truly are more than survivors but warriors and blessed children of the Almighty GOD.
